BARBET HISTORY

The Barbet was almost completely wiped out during World Wars 1 & 2.

The Barbet is a French water dog and the name "barbet" means beard.

It has been said that the French Royals hunted with the Barbets, and that the Barbet has also been a sailor's assistant making the breed similar in that respect to the Portuguese Water Dog.

The Barbet is noted for its fearlessness in cold water and they are the only member of the water dog family to point.
